Who we are
This website is operated by the Humane Society of Atchison, an animal shelter serving Atchison County, Kansas. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Adoption applications are not a guarantee
Submitting an adoption inquiry or application through this site starts a conversation; it does not reserve an animal or guarantee an adoption. Every placement is decided by shelter staff in the animal's best interest, and animals listed as available may be adopted before we can respond. Adoption fees, requirements, and any home visits are explained by staff during the process.
Volunteer and foster sign-ups
Volunteer and foster applications are reviewed by staff. Volunteering and fostering are subject to the shelter's policies, training requirements, and any agreements you sign in person.
Donations and wish lists
Wish-list links take you to Amazon and Chewy, whose terms govern those purchases. Mailed and in-kind donations are gratefully received. The Humane Society of Atchison is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 48-1108369; email donations@humanesocietyofatchison.org if you need a written acknowledgment for your records.
Accuracy of information
We keep animal listings, hours, and event details as current as we can, but they can change quickly. Please call before making a special trip. Nothing on this site is veterinary or legal advice.
Your use of the site
- Use the forms honestly and only for their intended purpose.
- Do not attempt to access the staff dashboard or any part of the site you are not authorized to use.
- Do not use automated tools to submit forms or scrape the site.
Content and photos
The text, photos, and logo on this site belong to the Humane Society of Atchison or are used with permission. You are welcome to share links to our pages and to repost adoptable-pet photos to help an animal find a home. Please do not use our logo or photos for any other purpose without asking.
Links to other sites
We link to Facebook, Amazon, Chewy, Google Maps, and Google Calendar for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices.
Limitation of liability
The site is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, the Humane Society of Atchison is not liable for losses arising from your use of the site or from reliance on information on it.
Changes
We may update these terms; the effective date above will change when we do.
